In the Guides and Princesses program, each father/child pair is placed in a “tribe”. Tribes are usually organized by child gender and age. Tribes normally meet once per month, rotating among the members’ houses. The meetings include tribe business, crafts, snacks, and mostly give the kids a chance to bond. In addition, there are regular officer meetings and occasional “dads” meetings to keep the program organized and moving forward.
This is not going to be something that dominates your life. While attending the meetings is encouraged, they are optional. Relax if you can’t make it, you’re not going to be kicked out. Like with most things, the more effort you put in, the more reward you will reap. Participation in the tribe meetings helps build a cohesive group among the dads and kids.
