Ya-ya-hey, Katori Nation!  The officers hope this note finds you and yours healthy and striving in the world which is 2020.  This is a bit long, sorry about that.  Please read all the way through.

Today, we are trying to finish planning our 2020 event season during a confusing global health crisis.  And because we love who we are and what we do, we will conquer this challenge as well.

For the 2020-2021 school year, Katori Nation will not be requiring annual membership dues from its members.  In consideration of the decreased schedule and financial concerns of some, we did not feel it appropriate to require this for program participation. However, the reduced schedule does not remove most of the fixed costs of running our program.  To that end, we are asking for your help.

As Katori Nation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation, we are asking those who can please continue to support the program through a tax-deductible contribution.  We have set up a page on our website which allows you to make this donation.  Now to be clear, tax rules for a donation like this do not allow you to gain any direct benefit from it.  Therefore, this donation cannot be applied toward registration fees for any events.  It doesn’t matter if you donate $1000 or nothing, you will benefit from the program equally. We are absolutely, shamelessly begging for donations instead of charging dues.

So how much do we need?  Our goal is to raise approximately $3000 by October 1.  If 60 families each kick in $50, we’re there.  If you can spare $100, that would really help as we know many members are financially challenged these days.  We’re not greedy, but we are shameless.  But please, if money is tight and you’re pinching pennies, do not feel obligated.  That is exactly why we have cancelled dues.  Please only give what you can spare.

Thank you for your support.
